Octave

Octave is a high-level language, primarily intended for numerical computations. It provides a convenient command line interface for solving linear and nonlinear problems numerically, and for performing other numerical experiments. It may also be used as a batch-oriented language.

Release Notes: This is a major new release containing for the first time an experimental GUI (enabled using the --force-gui option). OpenGL graphics are now used instead of gnuplot by default. Named exceptions are now supported. Various other compatibility improvements with Matlab and bugfixes.
