Nightingale is a fork of the media player Songbird, which dropped Linux support in 2010.

Release Notes: More legacy code from Songbird was removed or disabled, improving stability. Some bugs were fixed, including a crash with Unity integration on Ubuntu 13.04, battery drain in OS X Lion or newer, and an issue with playback not properly updating the play counts.
Release Notes: This release is based on Songbird 2.2.0. References to Songbird's closed-source features (DLNA) were removed. 3GP, OGV, AVI, DivX, FLV, MOV, MP4, M4V, WebM, and WMB can now be imported. Playback and a failure to import on Ubuntu were fixed. FolderSync was upgraded to Version 220.127.116.11, and XULRunner to 18.104.22.168 (on Linux and Mac OS X). 7Digital is no longer available because of an ending of the partnership with Songbird. The volume bar now indicates the level number.
Release Notes: This is the first official Nightingale release. It is based off of the latest Songbird changes, providing better performance. It uses the more recent Gecko 1.9.2. Play Queue functionality is now implemented. The feather has been refreshed by GeekShadow, as designed by Manko10. Update functionality: get future releases automatically. Build system improvements. Various other bugfixes. Initial OS X support.
