Network UPS Tools

Network UPS Tools (also known as NUT) is an extremely powerful and versatile client/server based approach to UPS monitoring. Products from a wide range of vendors (APC, Belkin, Best Power, MGE, Tripp-Lite, etc.) are supported. A shared UPS can be monitored by one host, notifcations being sent to the other hosts via authenticated TCP connections. A Web interface is available, as is a Windows client.

Release Notes: This version adds support for Cyber Power Systems hardware with SNMP RMCARD, Dynamix 650VA USB, LDLC UPS-1200D, Tecnoware UPS ERA LCD 0.65, Powercom BNT-xxxAP (USB ID 0d9f:0004), and various USB devices using UPSilon 2000 software. The nut-scanner tool has been modularized even further, dynamically opening libraries for features such as USB, IPMI and SNMP. HP/UX packaging and AIX compilation have been improved. Additional bugfixes for various drivers (including blazer_usb with invalid USB vendor IDs 0000 and FFFF) are noted in the NEWS file and ChangeLog.

Release Notes: NUT can now monitor power supply units (PSU) in servers, through IPMI, using the new experimental 'nut-ipmipsu' driver. A new tool, 'nut-scanner', can be used to discover supported devices, both local and remote. It will help to ease the configuration steps, and power infrastructure discovery. There are also minor updates to usbhid-ups, bcmxcp, and snmp-ups, along with major improvements to apcsmart.

Release Notes: This release definitely fixes the recent USB regression, distributes the Perl module, and adds many new devices, features, and bugfixes. 2.6.0 previously included the complete documentation revamping using AsciiDoc. This includes a new Web site, user manual, developer guide, packager guide, and manual pages, available in various formats (single and multiple pages HTML and PDF at the moment). Augeas support has been added too, along with many new devices, features, and bugfixes.

Release Notes: This release fixes IPv6 detection at build time, and was released right after 2.4.2, which includes many improvements to USB support, library detection, OS support, and driver debugging. Several drivers (such as snmp-ups, apcsmart, and usbhid-ups) have been enhanced to support additional devices. The bestfortress driver has been reintroduced, and the ivtscd driver was added to support IVT Solar Controller Devices. The clone driver (formerly known as 'virtual') now provides flexible ways to present switchable outlets to clients as though they were complete UPSs.

Release Notes: The main motivation for this release was a change to the 'make clean' target for USB udev/hotplug/HAL scripts. If you build from a clean source tree, this change will not affect you. This release also adds the microdowell driver.

Just to confirm, the NUT website is indeed www.networkupstools.org, and the mailing list page on Alioth should work to get in touch with the developers. If anything appears to be down in the future, and you can't contact us via the mailing lists, you could also try to reach us via the freshmeat "Report problem" link above.

    Links still broken - 2008 Jul 24
I'm not sure that www.networkupstools.org/ is the correct URL either. Although it does go to a site, the links there are broken. All the e-mail contacts on there and the author listed here on freshmeat.net for Network UPS Tools don't bounce or response. The mailing list page dosen't work either so there's totally no way to contact anyone.

PS: I've been trying to resolve this for a week and with no results.

    web page link is outdated
The web page link shown for this project should be updated to the current link. The link shown for this project in the freshmeat pages is www.exploits.org/nut/ but that should be changed to the new page at www.networkupstools.org/
