NeL and the attached server and client code is a platform to create and run a multi-user 3D virtual environment for entertainment purposes. It is used as the core of Ryzom (ryzom.com), a 3D MMORPG. The server and client code is Linux and Windows based.

Release Notes: 3DSMAX Plugins were added for tree painter and advanced patch editing. A 3DSMAX installer is available for 3DSMAX 2010. OpenGL support on Linux was expanded. Non-native Mac OS X support (requiring X11) was added. 64-bit platform support was added experimentally. Qt-based tools were added, such as Words Dictionary, Message Box, Tile Editor, and NeLNS Launcher. An XAudio2 sound driver was added. The OpenAL sound driver was completed. The default build environment was changed to CMake. Many bugs were fixed.
Release Notes: The build environments have been cleaned. This release has been ported to AMD-64 processors. A major crash with Vertex Buffers on nv50 cards has been fixed. The OpenAL driver has been resurrected. The GTK Displayer now compiles. OpenGL has been updated to the latest glext. The login service, the default SQL schema, CLoginServer, and CLoginClient have been fixed. A vast amount of cleanup has been done to eliminate errors. Debian packages are available.
Release Notes: The source tree and provided data now allow playing a sample network game, Snowballs, featuring penguins and gnus throwing snowballs at each other over a snow-covered field.
