MiXViews

MiXViews (or mxv for short) is the newest generation in the line of software which began with "mixview", which has been available for many years on various archives. It is a graphics-interface program which runs under the X window system, and it is designed to allow users to edit and process digital sound and other forms of on-disk data for musical or other purposes.

    Release Notes: Command history and unlimited undo/redo are now implemented. Command menu interlock (only applicable menu commands are active; others are greyed-out) is now implemented.

      Release Notes: Playback now shows a moving cursor indicating progress. Many processing commands display a "progress bar". Some bugs in the code for writing the .mxvrc file were fixed.

        Release Notes: OSS playback code now handles arbitrary-sized buffers without cutting off the ends. The editor now reads and writes floating point WAV files. More features have been added to formant synthesis (amp thresh, voiced mute). Fade In and Fade Out commands are now available, as well as an audition command for LPC datafiles. The horizontal time scale is now displayed in H:M:S format. A Help menu has been added with commands for displaying mxv, man, HTML, and home page.

          Release Notes: Data types have been fixed so that large memory requests do not wrap to negative numbers. A check has been added for requests that exceed the maximum builtin datasize. An auto-correlate command has been added to allow the removal of glitches. A bug in the AIFC header writer causing it to write garbage after the compression name has been fixed.
