Mrxvt (previously known as materm) is a multi-tab X terminal emulator based on rxvt/aterm. It supports multiple tabs, runtime dynamic tab title, pseudo-transparent backgrounds, user-supplied background images (JPEG, PNG, or XPM), background color tinting, text shadows, NeXT/rxvt/xterm/SGI style scrollbars, XIM, multiple languages (Chinese, Korean, and Japanese) and logging. It is lightweight and fast, and only depends on Xlib.

Release Notes: A few exceptionally annoying bugs were fixed (e.g. scrolling on TTY output). A few new features were added. For instance, you can now communicate with mrxvt using a socket. Thus, you can configure a button on your panel/doc to raise the mrxvt window, and open a new tab in it.

Release Notes: This release has significantly improved performance and further reduced resource usage, even though the footprint was already very small. New features include a better and more intelligent tabber appearance, a full screen mode, new powerful macros (replacing hotkeys), XRender alpha blending, popup menus, and more. Numerous bugs have been fixed.

Correct, it's way faster than 0.4. Too bad 0.4 is still in Debian unstable. Well, but I compiled 0.5.1 from sources. Great job.

0.50 is much faster
The speed improvement when using transparant background is certainly noticeable, even on my older laptop (crappy 1 Ghz Celeron) ! Good work.
What I didn't care fore however is rxvt now being the default terminal type.
It caused an extra empty line being printed after each command.
Changing terminal type back to xterm solved the problem.
Would be nice to see xterm as default again.
Anyway, keep up the good work, mrxvt is my #1 terminal emulator for X ;)
