mplay is a console-based front-end for MPlayer. It plays most all audio and video formats and features adjustable colors, a browsable playlist, a progress bar, status information, an interactive shoutcast stream browser, and interactive help, and remembers the position upon quitting.

    Release Notes: The xmplay shell script was added. xmplay will start mplay in a new xterm with the saved size and its own defined color scheme. The need to press several keys to add several things was replaced by a menu. Type-ahead-search works now without holding the Alt-key. Mouse initialization was fixed. The menu for changing colors was improved. For compatibility reasons, some keys and shortcuts were modified. Some work-arounds were made for shoutcast streams. The artist and genre filter should now work as expected.

      Release Notes: Many bugfixes and improvements. New features include cutting MP3s, a new genre+artist filter, and UTF-8 support.

        Release Notes: SDome of major functions were rewritten. Major visual changes were made and bugs were fixed. Mouse support was implemented. The documentation has not yet been updated.

          Release Notes: A completely new interactive Shoutcast stream browser with its own functions. A preferences dialog. Tags are also in the playlist. Other improvements und bugfixes.

            Release Notes: Cache behaviour for Mplayer was improved. There are some bugfixes. Some redundant code was removed from the Perl module 'Video::Info'.
