mpgtx (an MPEG ToolboX) allows you to manipulate ID3 tags, split, join, demultiplex, and fetch detailed information about a variety of MPEG files. It was designed to do little, but do it well, and to provide the end user with an austere yet powerful commandline interface. It replaces "mpgcut".

Release Notes: Support for files larger than 2GB (requires systems supporting Single Unix Specification 2.0; on Linux, this requires both glibc 2.2+ and kernel 2.4+), and some bugfixes.

Release Notes: This release fixes a minor bug in demultiplexer, and should now compile nicely on gcc-3.0.

Release Notes: This release fixes a segfault with an 'exotic' mpeg type.

Release Notes: A severe bug that caused invalid/unplayable files was fixed in this release. Various other bugs were fixed.

Release Notes: mpgtx now includes an ID3 tag editor/sorter. As an example, you can mass set the album name and singer name of a list of mp3 files, while being asked for their title and track number. When all ID3 are set you can move these files to a destination based on their ID3 tag with a single command line. Various bugs were also fixed in this release.

The Game of the Name
mt project was about one hour long when I checked my mailbox...
Dozens of mails concerning mt's name were patiently waiting for me.
mt appears to be a widely used unix tool and I have no excuse for choosing it for my modest little tool.
Mesures must be and will be taken to change the name, any proposition are welcome in this thread.
