mkinitramfs is intended to create the ultimate initramfs image. It's designed to boot from any media (SATA, PATA, SCSI, USB, CD-ROM, etc.) without any changes being made to your disk. However, it is very simple (about 400 lines of code).

Release Notes: Support for splashutils 1.5.3 was added to the splash plugin.


Release Notes: The project is now thoroughly documented. Support for dmraid, mdraid, and LVM2 was added. Many bugs were fixed. Newer udev and kernels are also supported.
