Release Notes: This release adds an option to discard empty messages. It adds support for SMTP AUTH PLAIN. Messages with illegal byte sequences in non-interactive mode are not rejected anymore but sent as "application/octet-stream" instead. Attachments with such sequences are always sent in this way. Automatic outgoing character set selection now works for each part of a multi-part message separately.
Release Notes: Fixes were made to the handling of multibyte characters in base64-encoded message parts. Some minor issues were also fixed.
Release Notes: MIME message parts that are not of type "text/" are now always encoded in base64 to avoid issues with CRNL conversion. Character set conversion is now applied to attachments if they have the "text/" content type. An interoperability problem concerning maildir folders has been fixed. An invalid memory access when determining the current message in threaded mode has been fixed. It is now possible to build with more recent versions of Mozilla NSS.
Release Notes: This release fixes bugs in the base64 encoder, in generated S/MIME headers, regarding messages in character sets with state-dependent encodings, and in the handling of the "prompt" variable.
Release Notes: The program has been integrated into the Heirloom project as "mailx". An error in SMTP address syntax that caused mailx to fail sending messages to a Sendmail X server has been fixed. The SMTP AUTH password can now be typed directly at the terminal. A SMTP transfer child process can now be aborted in a controlled manner with SIGTERM, saving the current message to the dead.letter file.
Release Notes: A bug in the base64 encoder that added two bits of junk under certain circumstances has been fixed; most decoders ignore such bits. A bug in the IMAP cache that caused the message body to appear twice under rare circumstances has also been fixed. Input that lacks a terminating newline is now always encoded in quoted-printable. Support for wildcard host names in certificates according to RFC 2595 has been added. The maximum length of lines that are passed to SMTP servers is now configurable. The "sort" command now uncollapses a threaded view.
Release Notes: A core dump that occurred since the last release when sending messages with the "replyto" variable set was fixed. The maximum recursion depth for the "folders" command on an IMAP server is now configurable. An "-R" option has been introduced to open all folders read-only. Further fixes were made to the "folders" command for reading TTY input and for SSL support using Mozilla NSS.
Release Notes: It is now possible to put multiple addresses in the "From" and "Reply-To" fields. The "From", "Sender", "Reply-To", and "Organization" fields can be changed for a single message using the new "~H" tilde escape. The output for "~p" has been extended to include these fields. Some minor bugs have been fixed.
Release Notes: In threaded mode, the thread structure is shown using line-drawing characters in the header summary in UTF-8 mode. When a message part of content-type text/anything is written with the pipe-type/subtype mechanism, it is converted to the character encoding of the locale again. Changing the default port number for SMTP STARTTLS works.
Release Notes: nail no longer relies on the SMTP server to strip "bcc" fields. Quotes are set correctly again with the "pipe-type/subtype" mechanism (e.g., when replying to HTML messages). SSL error messages when compiled with Mozilla NSS are more detailed now. The "next" command now also advances after a "touch", "mbox", "unread", or "new" command.
