Release Notes: This release fixes some long-standing bugs with lpq/lpr/lpd. It fixes spelling in and updates the documentation.

Release Notes: Dynamic load balancing can now use user-supplied queue choice criteria at job dispatch time. Configuration facilities have been extended to allow tuning of almost all major system level parameters. Filter support has been extended and enhanced, allowing simple scripts to be specified in the printcap. Accounting scripts and facilities were enhanced. Linux SETUID compromise detection was added to clients. Support for building packages was added to the main distribution source code for ease of system administration and local site distribution generation.

Release Notes: LPRng is now distributed under the GPL and Artistic licenses. This version is basically a set of minor bugfixes and user tweaks, including the fact that checkpc -Ppr will now install/update a single printer queue.


Release Notes: Minor patches and configuration changes have been made to deal with portability and stability issues. Several memory and temporary file issues have been resolved. The documentation has been updated and reflects the current LPRng behavior.


Release Notes: Load balance queues, dynamic job routing, and remote configuration and managment have been enhanced to allow queues to be assigned classes (forms), and other enterprise level management facilities. Diagnostic and error logging has been greatly enhanced, as well as extending permissions control. Kerberos 4 and 5 are now directly supported. Output, log and accounting files can now be automatically rolled over on a daily basis. A default print queue mechanism has been added to the LPD server, allowing automatic and dynamic routing capability to be incorporated in a simple manner.


Release Notes: Default for force_localhost is now TRUE, HOWTO distribution now includes html, info and PostScript.
