ledmail

Ledmail is a small mail checking utility that utilises the keyboard LEDs (caps, num, and scroll lock) to indicate when new mail has arrived. The LEDs are made to flash in an answerphone-like manner to indicate the number of new messages that are present in given mail servers. Each LED can be given a separate list of mail servers to poll, and the total number of new messages on those servers will determine how many times the LED will flash. Errors in checking mail servers cause the LEDs to flash in an inverted state, or to stay on. Ledmail can check both POP3 and IMAP4 mail servers.

Release Notes: Support for IMAP4 servers was added, as well as command line options for check interval and flash rate. The man pages were updated. A few other minor bugs were fixed, some as a result of bug reports. The program is now licenced under the terms of the GPL. The structure of /etc/ledmail.conf was modified.

Release Notes: A number of small bugfixes, including a file descriptor leak and a problem whereby ledmail refused to check mail accounts that could not be checked when first started up, and a number of 'under the bonnet' changes (POP3 checking functions are in their own file). Most changes are in preparation for IMAP support.

      403 forbidden error
When I did a fresh install of Mandrake 8.2 with Apache I got this error when trying to access my websites that I had stored on another drive. I was upgrading from NT 2000 using IIS 5.0 so I had my original websites that were working before stored on another drive.

I spent 3 days looking for a solution to the 403 error I was getting when I tried accessing my websites. I had everything setup correctly in Apache (at least I thought). And I kept dinking around with my virtual server settings. I even changed the path in Apache for my default website to make sure it was not a webpage error.

My website pulled up fine when I did this but even though I duplicated the settings in my default site with the new Virtual site I created for my website I still got a 403 error.

The solution: You need to make the changes in the directives.
Once I added lines to my commonhttpd directive in Apache for my vitual server and the path where my websites were located I was then able to pull up my websites without this error showing up anymore. I have more information about the steps you go through to do this on my website.

I hope this helps others who maybe having the same problem I was.

Animail can work as a mailchecker (as well as a full features MDA), and supports IMAP4Rev1 with SSL.

      Hi there,

Sorry, not a 644 I'm afraid. I'm about to graduate and so my web space and email is either getting converted to an alumni account for life, or being cut. I'm guessing that the 403 is part of the change over/deletion since all the files are there and okay.

In the meantime this www.google.com/search?... will get you the page, but not the downloads.

Maybe it is time to move to sourceforge?
