KScannerButtons

KScannerButtons is a daemon plus an optional KDE frontend for monitoring your scanner buttons so that actions can be taken in response to button presses. It's composed of a daemon (sanebuttond), a frontend that will display an icon in the systray, and a dialog box to configure and launch the daemon. It is based on the button monitoring capabilities found in some SANE backends. It has been tested with the avision backend and an HP 5300C scanner. The frontend requires Kommander (kde-webdev).

Release Notes: There have been a lot of enhancements. In particular, there are more translations and more scanners are recognized (backends for HP3900 and Plustek have been added). There is also a new button to refresh the list of scanners. The paths for the different files are more standard.

Release Notes: This release fixes the broken default actions created at first run. Note: if you need to reset the default actions, remove the section [/usr/local/bin/KScannerButtons.kmdr] (and entries below) in ~/.kde/share/config/kommanderrc with your favorite text editor. The broken KScannerButtons.desktop launcher has been fixed.

Release Notes: The [test buttons] .sh script has been fixed (it was not working due to the new way of passing the dcopid). A problem in the daemon when there was no --script-arg option has been fixed. This release enables the use of the test script without the GUI. In a console: SANE_DEFAULT_DEVICE=avision:libusb:002:003 sanebuttonsd --script /usr/local/bin/sanebuttonsd-test.sh, where avision:libusb:002:003 is replaced by your own device. The French translation has been fixed for the [&Delete] button (the text was too long).

Release Notes: This release completes the replacement of the obsoleted Kommander APIs. When run using ksystraycmd, there was a bug in the generated script. Nothing happened when pressing a button. This has been fixed. A --script-arg command line switch has been added to the daemon sanebuttond in order to pass additional arguments to the script. This is used by KScannerButtons to pass its dcop id. There is a better default sanebuttonsd.sh script.

Release Notes: Obsolete KDE functions were replaced. A problem where the default 'one-touch copy' action was not actually printing, but saving into a PostScript file was fixed.
