Re: KDE looks like Windows? So what?
Besides the menu, you can change the behavior and look of KDE3 easily even be changed. As far as GNOME, I used it to begin with but you have to use alot of KDE proggies and has more restriction on what you can change.

I happen to like my ghetto computer. And if you want to run KDE as a window manager that’s fine with me. But before you start making comments as to why people run blackbox I would suggest that your read this fine gem of a book "Design of the Unix Operating System" by Marice J. Bach. Then you may start to understand why people don't like “all in one software” (KDE, GNOME...). If you want integrated software then maybe another platform whose name I won't mention would better suit you.

KDE ist the best!
I have installed it everywhere! At work, at home (Intel,Sparc; Linux, FreeBSD,Solaris) now I feel really good and finally I can work properly. I simply love it and I am happy about the wide support.

My favourite application is konqueror.

And to you guys, here, quit whinning about the blockheads who are against KDE. I noticed that most of them only tried some 0.9-beta stuff. And... shhh... don't tell them that it's good now. It will be our secret... Hehehehe...

Re: FUD and lies about KDE

First off, I've been doing computers for almost 25 years now and my base model for comparison is NOT the Windows model (which sucks!). For those of you that use this as the basis for comparison - well - too bad for you - someday you'll know better - experience still counts a lot.

My base model is basically CDE - the commercial (stagnant) X environment that is supplied with most commercial Unixs. Compared to this, KDE is totally TOP-NOTCH. When I log into a GNOME environment, I find a number of nice things, but something makes me feel sort of like this is the kids environment - NO FLAMES PLEASE - I'll readily admit that I do not use Gnome enough to make a very qualified comment, I acknowledge the many very sharp people that work in this space and so on, but for KDE, I find it presents a much more professional feeling and usable environment. If you ever use xterms with CDE, just the act of resizing the window presents a pain in the *ss.

As far as I am concerned, KDE is again TOP-NOTCH and those people deserve the best of recognition. My only problem is that I only have time to implement the commercial distributions (DISTRO's is a childish and non-professional term - drop it! - keep Linux and all aspects at a professional level to move it forward - Please!), so I do not have the latest version available to me and to download is all too much (sigh). So I wait, but what I have I KNOW is good stuff.

You KDE developers, keep up the excellent work!!

*sigh*
How bout some damn patches??? I have src from 2.0.1 ... and I *don't* want to spend all day downloading on my dialup. A few meg in patches works for me... and probly just about everyone else who knows how to apply one. I can't afford the time to download close to 60MB.

KDE looks like Windows? So what?
I really don't get this.

Just because KDE looks alot like Windows 9x, many of you geeks automatically hates it. Why?

Don't get me wrong, I am too sick and tired of Windows 9x, and is today very pleased with KDE on my Linux box, but I really don't get it when many of you with GNOME or just console despise KDE, just because it looks like Windows 9x. What kind of argument is that? It does _not_ function like Windows 9x, and it looks nice. That's the reasons (I guess) why people use it.

Winblows isn't ugly. Too bad it sucks.

Ps.: Hey, don't you think it's even more humiliating for Microsoft to to watch a non-profit organization make a desktop environment so like Windows 9x and still so much better, than just an OS? ;p

Pps.: Isn't Qt opensource now?

KDE is great !!
I'd like to take the time to thank all the developers
of KDE and all the KDE Apps. KDE is one of the greatest
things to ever happen to Linux. My computer wouldn't be
the same without it.

FUD and lies about KDE
I'm a KDE user,I hate windows( no personal reasons) and i've downloaded and used GNOME. Now I have both KDE and GNOME on my box the two are great but for now KDE is more stable, usable and feature rich than GNOME. I hope people will stop attacking KDE how would you feel if you did a lot of work and give it for free just to see pepole attacking you?. both KDE and GNOME and any other GUI projects are cornerstones for linux widespread.Love is sharing if you like Linux share it with others let them know how good it is and thank both the KDE and GNOME teams for the hard work they've done!
