KDE Plasma Active is a user interface for all types of tablets, smartphones, and touch computing devices, such as settop boxes, smart TVs, home automation, and in-vehicle infotainment. It is a joint project by the KDE community, basysKom, and open-slx. Its goals are a fast embedded UX platform with minimal memory requirements, customizable and modular to support different form factors, and an interface which adapts as users change activities.

Release Notes: This release provides a noticeably better experience with its enhanced and expanded set of apps, improved performance, and a new virtual keyboard. Files is a new default file manager, but unlike most others, it isn't based on folders. Instead, users can search for documents by file type, creation time, and semantic information such as Tags. Okular Active is a new e-book reader. Through Plasma Active's add-ons, thousands of e-books are available for free. The new virtual keyboard is faster and more convenient to use.


Release Notes: Release Two of Plasma Active provides radical performance improvements, optimized and adapted code, faster startup, a significant decrease in memory consumption, and quicker browser response. Usability has improved. Plasma Active Two has enhanced touch functionality, better consistency, and more freedom to adapt to personal preferences. The new locking, sleeping, shutdown feature provides better support for mobile use. A new feature learns usage patterns and makes pertinent recommendations.
