Kartouche

Translation of .po files for localisation projects can be done with a simple text-editor, or using the dedicated .po editors like KBabel. Kartouche offers a team-based mechanism for collaborative translation over the Web. People who are interested in seeing software in their language, but who may have little techical expertise, can help the translation effort by entering suggested translations over the Web (or LAN) with just a browser. Kartouche uses PHP to load the pot files into a MySQL database (one file to a table), and then provides a front-end for people to add suggested translations, and a back-end for the translation coordinator to accept or reject those suggestions. It can also be used for GNOME files, and potentially for other apps if input/output filters are developed.

Release Notes: Translation progress bars are now generated on the fly. Table selection pages now have switches to show translated records only, untranslated records only, and suggestions only. Po files can now be exported directly from the user pages. "Hall of Fame" functionality allows contributors to each file to be logged. "Omnivore" functionality maintains all translations in a central dictionary with full search capability. The Omnivore tables are now held in a separate database from the Kartouche tables. The Omnivore data can now be made available via a sidebar entry in Mozilla.

Release Notes: Redundant code was removed for adding header info to the file (it is added on import already). Some changes were made to fns.php. A KARTOUCHE variable was added in config.php to give Kartouche a version number.
