Kadmos OCR/ICR engine

The Kadmos OCR/ICR (handwriting) recognition engine has support for multiple languages. It covers all Latin languages and others, including Cyrillic. Application interfaces are available for C, C++, VB, .NET, Delphi, and Java upon request. It has isolated character recognition (REC), isolated line recognition (REL), and paragraph / multi-line recognition (REP) modules.

      Release Notes: A small memory leak was fixed in rec_init(), and thus also in rel_init() and rep_init(). Error corrections were made in the software copy protection module. Wrong messages in Uninstall.exe were corrected. An error in processing empty images with GENERAL_PREP_ONLY was fixed. A rare error in binarization of gray images with a parameter setting different from PREP_GRAYTOBIN_MEDIUM was fixed. The algorithms for image zooming were improved. An additional parameter value, PREP_GRAYTOBIN_UNIFORM, was added to binarize gray images with one threshold only.

        Release Notes: re_closeimagefile() didn't close *.ras files correctly. The Ispell parameters ispell_config, ispell_minlen, and ispell_maxlen were moved from the ReSpellParm structure into the ReSpellInit structure, as they have to be set before Ispell initialization. The int data types in the ReSpell data structures have been declared as short to ensure correct 8-byte-alignment on different platforms.

          Release Notes: Respell is now supported for Visual Basic. To support respell for Visual Basic, the integration of respell.h in kadmos.h was necessary.
