Release Notes: The pre 1.4 JDK releases have very limited image encoding abilities. As such, this release remains focused on JPEG and PNG encoding, which should suffice for most applications. GIF encoding has been removed due to licensing problems. In any other regards, this branch is completely equal.

Release Notes: The image file export was changed to the Java Advanced Imaging Library part of the JDK 1.4. This streamlined the whole shebang. Additionally, the function plotter was partially redesigned to use a real Java expression parser, which speeds things up a bit. Some small changes were made in the API.

Release Notes: It is now possible to create numeric ChartDataModels with differently sized DataSets. The Interpolation-, Plot-, and LineChartRenderers support this feature. The DefaultChart now renders the coordinate system after the renderers, so the coordinate system always appears on top. An Ant build file is now included, which makes compiling and testing a lot easier.

Release Notes: A BarChartRenderer was added. The Coordinate System now renders non-numerical x-axis values. The DataModel for non-numerical x-axis values now supports auto scaling. The documentation was updated since the last version still used the old packaging structure.
