Release Notes: For IRC, long messages will now be sent in multiple parts, and more authentication methods are supported when connecting e.g. to Freenode. In Twitter, replying to a tweet now replies to all users, just like on the Twitter Web site. A user’s nicknames are now highlighted when mentioned in a chat. Two new social networks were added: Odnoklassniki and VKontakte. Various connection issues with Twitter and XMPP-based networks were fixed. Accessibility was improved.

Release Notes: This release has many improvements. It now supports the Bonjour protocol and has fully rewritten and extensible implementations of IRC, Facebook Chat, and Google Talk. Passwords are now encrypted for security (and can be protected by a master password). Some great enhancements have been made to multi-user chats: tab complete has been made much smarter (hopefully you won’t even notice it anymore), and only the participants who are active are colored in the participants list.

Release Notes: This version is more a stability/bugfix release than a feature release. It is based on libpurple 2.4.3 and Mozilla 1.9.0.1. It is more stable (outstanding bugs resulting in crashes were fixed). Breakpad has been turned on to get more data on crashes. The tooltips of the buddy list now contain detailed information. Most of the time was spent on the build system. Instantbird can now be built like any other Mozilla application. For developers, it will now be easy to play with the code, and users may notice that the downloads are smaller.
