Release Notes: Various enhancements and bugfixes. It is strongly recommended to read the Changelog before upgrading from an earlier version.
Release Notes: Perl 5.10.0 and Perl 5.8.9 are now properly supported. A long-standing bug with Perl hooks was resolved. A lost initialization in buffindexed was fixed. A segfault of the RADIUS authenticator was fixed. Two bugs preventing nnrpd from running as a daemon in FreeBSD were fixed. Many other minor bugs were fixed.
Release Notes: Frequent segfaults on 64-bit systems were solved. Group blocks in incoming.conf are now correctly parsed and no longer cause segfaults. Perl 5.10 support was added. Client hangs when posting through SSL were solved. Berkeley DB 4.4, 4.5, and 4.6 are now supported, and their nmdb compatibility layer is preferred. IPv6 connection handling is now more flexible. Several other improvements and bugfixes were made.
Release Notes: Overview generation has been fixed in both makehistory and innd. The embedded Tcl filter code has been disabled. A bug that could cause heap corruption and random crashes in innd if INN was compiled with Python support has been fixed. pgpverify will now correctly verify signatures generated by GnuPG, and better supports GnuPG as the PGP implementation. Error reporting and 64-bit compatibility have been improved. INN is now licensed under a less restrictive license.
Release Notes: The single group LIST ACTIVE is now hidden if users don't have permission to access it. Fixes were made to XHDR and XPAT header parsing, CNFS is now more robust against crashes, and a tradspool memory leak was fixed. Some bugs with pgpverify and GnuPG were also fixed, along with compilation fixes for Perl 5.8.0, BerkeleyDB 4.x, Linux and large files, Tru64, and ReiserFS. Some obscure problems in the header handling of nnrpd were fixed, and the sample control.ctl file was updated.
Release Notes: pgpverify supports GnuPG, some major bugs in the tradindexed overview method have been fixed (particularly with regards to makehistory), the default history hash table size has been increased, the sample control.ctl file has been extensively updated, and various other bugs and documentation fixes have been made.
Release Notes: innxmit can again handle regular filenames as input as well as storage API tokens. Several problems with tagged hash have been fixed. Some improvements have been made to the tradspool performance problems. Documentation and a sample for the subscriptions file have been added. There are also lots of other bugfixes and minor improvements.
Release Notes: inews no longer downloads the active file, no longer tries to send postings to moderated groups to the moderator directly, and in general duplicates less of the functionality of nnrpd, instead letting nnrpd handle it. This fixes the problem of inews not working properly for users other than news without being setgid. A man page has been added for ckpasswd. A serious bug in the embedded Perl authentication hooks was fixed, thanks to Jan Rychter. The annoying compilation problem with embedded Perl filtering on Linux systems without libgdbm installed should be fixed. INN now complains loudly at configure time if the configured path for temporary files is world-writeable, since this configuration can be a security hole. This release also contains many other varied bug fixes and documentation fixes of all sorts over 2.3.0.
Release Notes: INN 2.3.0 represents a significant architectural change to INN, with a completely new internal overview interface, three new overview mechanisms, two new article storage mechanisms, and the elimination of quite a few old interfaces and old code.
