iloog is a Gentoo-based live CD targeted mainly at students and scientists. It features UnionFS filesystem support that enables you to write everywhere on the LiveCD and install extra packages, a graphical X environment through the Fluxbox window manager, many programming editors and IDEs, and a plethora of scientific applications, including Octave, Namd, Merlin, and full (La)TeX support.

Release Notes: This release adds QT4 support, a 2.6.22 kernel patched against the recent local root exploit, a Pascal compiler (gpc), another IDE (glade), minor changes to Fluxbox's menu and theme, new Tango icons for the desktop, programs by Greek developers (including indywiki, jIPFire, pluto, pysmssend, and QGRUBEditor), support for via and sis graphics drivers in Xorg, and support for new revision control software like git and mercurial. It removes some bloated programs and replaces them with lighter ones.
Release Notes: iloog now uses squashfs-lzma and is able to contain more packages than before. A menu-driven ISOLINUX boot menu is provided for ease of use. Kernel version 2.6.22 was included. The Fluxbox theme was cleaned up. New scripts were written for changing the X keyboard layout and for starting the Xvesa (kdrive) server. Bootsplash support was added.
