HP Linux Imaging and Printing

HPLIP (HP Linux Imaging and Printing) is a complete single and multi-function printing device connectivity solution for users of Linux. Supported features include a toolbox with status and maintenance functions, scanning, a CUPS backend that supports bidirectional I/O, and photo card unloading. It includes HPIJS 2.x and supports over 1000 HP printer models including Deskjet, Business Inkjet, Photosmart, Business Inkjet, PSC, Officejet, Mono/Color LaserJet, and LaserJet Multifunction Peripheral (MFP).

Release Notes: A daemon-less version of HPLIP.

    Release Notes: This release adds parallel port support for printing and scanning. There are numerous fixes in status, supplies, toolbox, maintenance, HPPSD, the SANE backend, and the build system. Support has been added for the following new printers: Photosmart 420, 470, an d 2570, PSC 1400, Officejet 5600, Photosmart 3100, 3200, 3300, 8000, and 7800, Deskjet 5440 and 5940, and the Color laserJet 4700. There is a patch file available for this release. This patch addresses scanning issues on laserjets and parallel only inkjets, and is available in the HPLIP 0.9.5 file download section at hpinkjet.sf.net.

    Release Notes: LaserJet 1010/1012/1015 and OfficeJet K80 support was fixed and OfficeJet V40 support was added. 4-sided full bleed support was added. Miscellaneous build and install fixes were made and a HPIJS hang error was fixed.

    Works fine with my hp deskjet 3550 printer
    Works fine with my hp deskjet 3550 printer. But it only supports upto 600 dpi. Whereas the windows driver support up to 1024dpi or so.
