Release Notes: This release is a significant re-write to support multi-core systems via OpenMP, unlocking the full performance of today's multi-core CPUs, and being fully prepared for the future. Performance is currently much better than ImageMagick for most operations. Note that OpenMP is not currently tested or enabled under Microsoft Windows, although it may work. Additional enhancements include a 'compare' subcommand, a secure operating mode for servers, and a large number of bug and security fixes.

On *nix type systems and other systems using Autoconf configure, it is now possible to parallel install shared library builds using different quantum depths. The -lat algorithm is tremendously faster. Support is added for the Garmin JNX format. The test suite is completely re-written from scratch to use TAP tests. Various Windows add-on libraries are updated. The 'dcraw' program is added in the Windows build so that Windows users can easily read RAW camera formats.


Release Notes: This is primarily a bugfix release. It is completely compatible with prior 1.3.X releases. A security fix is included. The SWT reader is fixed. A memory leak in the XBM reader was eliminated. Feature improvements and bugfixes are included for the MAT, PDF, and PNG formats. Fixes/improvements have been made to -trim, +repage, and -units. The included PerlMagick now compiles with Perl 5.16. Many of the 3rd-party libraries are updated to the latest releases for the Windows build.
