The GNU plotutils package contains programs for plotting scientific data and a device-independent function library "libplot" for exporting 2-D vector graphics in many raster and vector file formats. It is written in C and can also do vector graphic animations.

Release Notes: This release adds SVG, PNG, and ReGIS (DEC's remote graphics instruction set) output drivers, Postscript-like compound paths, support for transparent backgrounds, better handling of curves, and lots of bugfixes. It can be linked with an extra libxmi.


Release Notes: CGM output is now supported, Plotutils is now based on libplot 3.0, which has new thread-safe C and C++ APIs, new functions have been added to libplot and libplotter for creating and manipulating PlotterParams objects, which store Plotter parameters, a new parameter, ROTATION, has been introduced (it applies to PCL, HP-GL, Fig, and PS Plotters), and a new scan-conversion library, called libxmi, can be optionally built and installed.
