    Release Notes: Fixes were made to URL and URLStreamHandler. File.deleteOnExit() was implemented. Multiple new features and bugfixes were made in java.text. AWT lists use GTK treeviews. Proper AWT focus management is done. Swing menus and scrollpanes now work. Swing splitpanes, dialogs, and internal frames were added. Swing repainting and double buffering were redone. Font management is done through Pango. A generic AccessController implementation was added. New java.beans Statement and Expression classes were added. Compilation fixes were made for PPC 64-bit, ARM, x86-64, and S/390.

      Release Notes: GNU JAXP has been updated. Native code is now -ansi -pedantic clean. java.io has been implemented by delegating to java.nio. The java.nio.Buffer and subclasses implementation has been optimized. A new javax.print plus attribute and event sub-packages have been implemented. There is support for java.text attributed iterators. There are javax.imageio plus event and SPI packages, META-INF/services provider support, an expanded Hacker Guide, a new --with-glibj configure option, autogen.sh support, big updates to various java.awt and javax.swing classes, and multiple java.net and java.rmi fixes. The standard API doc is valid XHTML. There are mauve test suite updates.

        Release Notes: This release features a java.util.regexp implementation through gnu.regexp wrappers, a java.net.URI implementation, and a working implementation of javax.swing.undo. java.awt.geom.CubicCurve2D/ QuadCurve2D can now solve cubic and quadratic equations. Many java.awt and gtk+ peer improvements were made along with more Swing work. EmbeddedWindow support was started and speed improvements were made to BufferedReader. The usabilty of java.text was improved. ObjectInputStream is now much faster and more compatible with other implementations. The handling of alias methods was fixed and javax.print.attribute.standard was added.

          Release Notes: This version updates java.awt peers to GTK+2. There is a java.awt.GridBagLayout implementation and a javax.swing.border implementation. The java.security and java.security.cert were updated to 1.4 spec. There is a new JNI native target code layer, and an --enable-regen-headers configure flag for automatic jni .h file generation. The workarounds for gcj 3.2 and lower were removed. There are lots of improvements and/or new classes for almost every package (awt, awt.dnd, awt.font, awt.geom, awt.image, io, math, net, nio, rmi, text, util, swing, swing.plaf, and swing.text).

            Release Notes: This release supports free Java VMs including Jikes RVM, Kissme, and perhaps others out of the box, but please refer to each VM's documentation on how to use GNU Classpath with the VM. Additionally, this release supports GNU Crypto as the official provider of cryptographic primitives and tools, and the GNU Classpath Tools sub-project of GNU Classpath as the official provider of standard tools such as gjdoc, a javadoc replacement, and others. Numerous bugfixes and patches are included, and the distribution now includes pre-compiled glibj.zip and gjdoc API documentation.

              Release Notes: New in this release are the addition of java.nio, VM interface changes, more flexible build environment to enable or disable creation of glibj.zip and tests and compilation of the native GTK peers, and lots of bugfixes and updates to make GNU Classpath more compliant with the 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 API specifications.

                Release Notes: New in this release are the addition of java.util.zip and java.rmi packages, VM independent jni.h, a more flexible build environment to separate class and native code generation, out of the box support for the ORP VM, and lots of bugfixes and updates to make GNU Classpath more compliant with the 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 API specification. The copyleft (GPL+exception) has been clarified and all code in the library is now distributed under the same terms.

                  Release Notes: This is the first development release of GNU Classpath, a project to create a free software replacement for Sun's proprietary Java class libraries. The project is initially providing class library support for the Japhar JVM.
