The audio/video pipelines have beed redesigned and allow changing many settings, even during playback. Most gmerlin packages now support gettext and contain a (yet incomlete) German translation. Also added were manual pages for most applications and an HTML user guide, which can be opened from within the applications.

The libquicktime encoder plugin now writes H.264/AVC video and multichannel AAC audio, and has a much improved compatibility for other hardware/software players. A frontend for creating and burning Audio CDs and VCDs was added to the transcoder. Further features are FLV (Flash Video) playback, a mikmod input plugin, 2-pass video encoding, and a high-quality audio encoding mode with optional volume normalization.


Release Notes: New generic features include a still image mode for the player, high quality pixel formats, better video scaling methods, basic deinterlacing support, and colorspace conversions with correct chroma resampling. Many new formats and codecs are supported for encoding/decoding. The API reference documentation for gavl and gmerlin_avdecoder is now available.
