Release Notes: A bug that affected conversion of grayscale GIFs has been fixed, and the program now gives correct results when the result PNG is palette-ized to reduce its size (an unusual case).
Release Notes: The gif2png distribution now includes a web2png script which can automatically convert an entire web tree. All GIFs except those with either transparency or animation are converted. Then, IMG SRC tags in associated web pages are automatically fixed. The script can be run in a mode which describes needed actions but makes no changes.
Release Notes: Version 0.7 is the first update since 1995, and it is distributed only as a patch to avoid any redistribution of LZW code. This version creates smaller PNG files by swapping the transparent palette entry if it's not first, thus allowing PNG's tRNS chunk to be truncated. It also auto-interlaces by default (i.e., make an interlaced PNG if and only if the GIF was interlaced), reports a summary at the end and has a new -q option to force quiet operation.
