GForge is a Web-based collaborative development environment. It's based on a fork of the 2.61 SourceForge code, which used to be available via anonymous CVS from VA Software, but has been extensively rewritten and enhanced.

Release Notes: Pervasive Tagging was implementing throughout the system. A new preference page was added in Project Admin for selecting/deselecting tabs like Associations and Tags. Source code indexing/search using Doxygen and Tsearch2 was added. CAPTCHAs are now optional for user registration and forum creation. A new serial field type was added in the tracker. The Quickjump menu now uses Ajax for better performance. French, German, and Italian translations were updated, and Brazilian Portuguese was added.

Release Notes: The Unix-style interface uses the SOAP API to let you access, add, and update Bugs, Tasks, and File Releases. The Tinderbox build tool has been integrated with a plugin. Major enhancements in the tracker include powerful new querying capabilities, new bugzilla-like fields by default, a configurable template project, and tracker cloning. A plugin has been developed for MS Project that allows it to synchronize tasks with GForge task manager subprojects.
