Gfax is a pop up fax application for Gnome. It supplies the familiar pop up window when printing to a fax printer. Gfax currently works with Hylafax.

Recent releases


Release Notes: Gfax should now work with all software that can print to a CUPS printer. A notable change is that Gfax must be running before you try to use the fax system. It will minimize to the system tray. Fax tracing ability is provided without recompilation. Gfax is now released under the GPLv3 license.


Release Notes: A significant amount of work has been done to polish this release. Much work has been put into polishing Hylafax and Efax support. If you have tried Gfax in the past and have been disappointed, this release is recommended.


Release Notes: Hylafax-received facsimiles can now be viewed/printed or deleted. Evolution address books are now supported. See Note 1 in the README. Hylafax jobs can be modified after sending. Newer GTK file dialogs are supported. There are some other small UI changes. Gfax Phone books and the spool directory have been moved to ~/.config and ~/.local. Gfax Phonebooks will be moved automatically. Bugs have been fixed.


Release Notes: Phone book code and send fax lists are now working correctly. This release series is basically porting the project over to the new GTK#-1.0 code.


Release Notes: The send druid now displays all the numbers that you have choosen to send the fax to. Each number in the list is receded with a check mark which allows you to deselect numbers in your list. Other changes to the send druid include the ability to change the facsimile resolution, email address, and notification feature. Notification and resolution settings previously didn't get transmitted to hylafax; they are now working.
