Release Notes: This release includes a major rewrite of the internal grid system as well as support for OGC WMTS (pending ratification). Grids are now shared across layers and arbitrary tile sizes are supported. The automatic configuration is able to use all bounding boxes provided by the server and create demo applications automatically. For manually configured layers, the syntax has become less repetitive and it is possible to specify scale denominators directly, instead of manually calculating the resolutions. The documentation has been improved and is now generated from reStructured text.

Release Notes: This release adds support for format modifiers, which provide better control over the output. For instance, you can have the WMS backend render PNGs without transparency, then store these as JPEG tiles. This avoids repeated compression and improves the output quality. The blank tile used for requests that are out of bounds is now configurable. A few minor bugs have also been addressed.

Release Notes: The configuration syntax has been cleaned up and it is now possible to reload the configuration with the press of a button. The seeding mechanism has been improved. It now supports up to 16 simultaneous threads. Connections to the back-end servers have been made more robust, timing out more gracefully under extreme loads. The documentation on the Web site has been cleaned up and enhanced in preparation for this release.

Release Notes: This release adds functionality that makes it easy to seed or truncate the cache from a Web browser. It fixes an important bug where a failed backend connection could hang forever, blocking the thread. All known bugs have been fixed.

Release Notes: This release supports arbitrary projections and has transitioned to using an XML-based configuration system. A demo page has been added that makes GWC significantly easier to use with OpenLayers and similar clients. Other highlights in this release include improved performance, multi-threaded seeding, bugfixes across the board, and the beginning of a RESTful configuration API.

Release Notes: This release mainly focuses on bugfixes. One new feature is that it is possible to specify global vendor parameters. Compared to 0.8.1 and earlier releases, it has vastly better performance due to reduced locking.

Release Notes: GeoWebCache now uses the Spring framework for internal wiring, making it very pluggable. A new feature is that it can automatically configure itself based on a getCapabilities request to a WMS server, as well as support multiple projections per layer. Support for KML super overlays (Google Earth) has been added and the groundwork for vector overlays has been done.

Release Notes: This release introduces native support for Microsoft Virtual Earth and Google Maps clients. Support for vendor specific parameters and multiple WMS backends, with automatic failover, has been added. The program now uses JAI for improved performance and to avoid problems with GIF images.

Release Notes: This is the first public release. It includes support for metatiling, seeding, and cache expiration headers.
