Hi,

> g4l, nme quit the project. i requested

you probably know why nme quit the project - he preferred to do that over admitting that not all of the code in g4l was from him. As the author of g4u, I'd like to point out that it might save you work to just follow the directions in the g4u license (add my name back in, and mention that g4l is based on g4u) instead of rewriting a lot of code. It's not my intention to do any harm to your project, g4l!

Kind Regards,

Hubert

Re: Ownership and future
OK, project has been transferred to me.

work has also begun, huge parts of the code have been rewritten, some errors and bugs have been removed so far.

changes:

-autodetect of ethernet devices

-autodetect of drives and partitions

-added a status screen if transfer is in progress, no need to switch console anymore

-added bzip2 support

-added local cloning feature (click'n'clone) without need to copy to ftp

at the moment g4l is being tested, and as soon as i have a new mirror, the link will be published here.

Ownership and future
Hello.

As you can all read on the mirrorsite of g4l, nme quit the project. i requested ownership from the guys at freshmeat, and as soon as i have a new mirror, work on g4l will commence.

a few things that might await you:

-local cloning of disks -> "click'n'clone"

-network support, storing images on ftp servers

-splitting of images for FS supporting only 2GB filesize

...and maybe much more.

for questions, contact me using email.

Re: nice prog
320 is not an ASCII code. ASCII has 256 characters, from 0 through to 255. Other character sets, such as ISO8859-1 (Latin1) are multi-byte and therefore have more characters available.

I have no idea what ALT-GR+Q is since all ASCII codes are numbers and not letters. So here is the correct way to do it on an english keyboard

ALT+320

Hold down alt, pres 320, then let off the alt key and there you have it, an @ sign. A bit of ascii research will reveal 320 is the correct ascii code for the @ sign. For future reference you can always use this method of typing chars while the keyboard is set to some foreign language.
