Open source is all about licensing. If you don't care about licensing, you in fact do not care about open source at all. How do you expect others to respect the license you have choosen to release your work under, if you even refuse to at least discuss licensing issues?

As both a *bsd and linux user, I consider your ignorant behavior as seriously harmful to the open source community in its whole.

Hubert says no, but he hasn't had time to look at

the new source yet.

I still believe it's an unlicenced copy of g4u.

Has the licensing issue between g4u and g4l been resolved yet?

Version 0.14 on the horizon
expect 0.14 to be released soon, and as usual it comes with a TON of new functions und tools.

just to make you curious:

- select RAW mode or file mode

- partimage for file mode included

- launch partimage server from menu

- dd_rescue support

- hdparm turbo mode for new hardware (UDMA+32bit mode)

and last not least: PROGRESS BARS for all those guys who want something to happen on the screen. might still be a little buggy but it is working and hey, g4l is still beta, so what? :)

at the moment i am testing it, give me some days.

please not only take a quick view at the page, READ it. UNDERSTAND it. or at least try. please.

let me say it once and for all:

a) the scripts that may or may not have violated a license are not longer part of g4l

b) even the script (filename 'g4l') as it was in v0.12 did imho not violate anything.

c) this is my last posting/email/whatever concerning this topic. i have made my point clear so far, i think.

read the above, there is nothing "to be resolved".

and keep your finger down, i know when i am obeying the law or not.be sure.

Re: work done!
ok folks,

finally sourceforge accepted the g4l project ! it took some time to get into it, but the 0.13 release is available on the sourceforge home of g4l:

http://g4l.sourceforge.net
i am looking for someone who has fun in creating a fancy webpage for g4l. but it is ok if it is gonna be a plaintext page :)
go on and drop me a mail.

thanks to all people who offered me mirror space!

I did read his text again. He said "why are you rewriting this instead of simply acknowledging my name?" That seems very straightforward.

Hubert's page shows portions of the scripts that are _character for character_ identical between g4u and g4l.

It's nice that you "don't want to talk about it anymore", but until you explain how the issue is going to be resolved, you're not honouring the spirit of goodwill in the open source community. You also may not be obeying the law.

i am tired of discussing this anymore. look at huberts analysis page and, as mentioned above, think.

imho the former script v0.12 did not base on anything nor did it violate any license.

again, please keep this kind of comments and request out of this BBS. it is for user comments, questions and support. if you want to discuss license stuff or something like this, drop me a mail.

This type of insinuation doesn't help your position. What is it you're claiming Hubert "wants or doesn't want"?

What is your proposal for resolving the fact that the previous project maintainer obviously violated the license and copyright of g4u?
