All releases of Firewall Builder for PIX

Release Notes: Starting with this version, Firewall Builder for PIX has been released under the GPL and became a part of the main Firewall Builder code tree and binary packages.

Release Notes: This release fixes a bug where the policy compiler generated unnecessary "clear acl" commands for the ACLs used in "nat" and "static" commands. Further minor improvements have been made in the fwb_pix_diff utility for PIX 7.x.

Release Notes: Besides a few minor bugfixes, this release comes with an experimental utility fwb_pix_diff that can generate command sequences to make small changes in large ACL and NAT commands for PIX 7.0. This utility will be integrated into the Firewall Builder built-in policy installer in the future.

Release Notes: This version supports Cisco PIX 7.0 and implements outbound ACLs and "inspect" commands. It works with Firewall Builder 2.1 and takes full advantage of its new features, such as new object types and improved performance.

Release Notes: This release adds support for Cisco FWSM.

Release Notes: Optimization has been added for no-NAT rules ("nat 0") to generate the PIX command "nat (interface) 0 0 0" where appropriate.

Release Notes: New installation method has been implemented for PIX firewalls. "Safety Net Install" provides a way to manage access lists on a PIX firewall through the IPSEC tunnel. Previously this was impossible because "clear access-list" command would switch firewall into all blocking mode, which breaks the tunnel. Safety Net Install works around this problem and maintains communication through the tunnel at all times.

Release Notes: This release fixed a bug that could cause the compiler to generate incorrect ACL commands for policy rules that permitted or denied access to NATted hosts. This bug was triggered by a rare combination of configurations of the firewall interfaces. This compiler works with Firewall Builder GUI 2.0.3.

Release Notes: The policy compiler for PIX now works with Firewall Builder 2.0 and is also available for Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Mac OS X.

Release Notes: this version adds support for PIX v6.3, an incremental policy installer program and features number of other improvements.
