fonmon

fonmon is a remote phone monitor for isdn4linux. It includes a server application for your ISDN-enabled computer (e.g. an ISDN gateway) and a client for your workstations (Linux and even Windows). You can easily monitor all incoming calls through your network with various clients, with features like highlighting, logging, and number/name exchange. The server won't run on a machine without an ISDN card in it.

Release Notes: The server doesn't send old calls to the clients when it is restarted now.

Release Notes: phonebook parsing has changed a bit. The popup window doesn't pop up twice now. The program loads the standard config file (/usr/local/etc/fonmon-client.conf) by default now. The port option has been removed from the config file. There are now different default ports for fonmon with and without the cipher feature, and there are more detailed log messages. The init script and Makefile have changed.

Release Notes: This release adds a real popup (and removes the pseudo popup function), adds an example ring tone, and fixes a minor bug.

Release Notes: A sound/popup function when a call arrives has been added.

Release Notes: A crypt feature was added by using libgcrypt. Some minor changes were made to other parts of the code.

Re: system description needs note on hardware
Hi george,

I just changed the projects's description a bit, it should be more clearly now that the server needs isdn.

Hi Nils - If you look at how many TLAs and FLAs exist in our realm you'll begin to see that i4l is a little too cryptic to convey any meaning at all except to those people who are already using ISDN on Linux and therefore don't need to know that ISDN is required for fonmon. For everyone else that information is neccesary.

I would have ISDN myself but it is not available in my area yet. It will be in only two years :-)

You probably already know this but TLA = three letter acronym.

i4l means ISDN for LINUX ;-)

system description needs note on herdware
Fonmon will only work if you have an ISDN card running in your Linux server. It cannot work with a normal phone line modem. This information should be included in the project description - unless that feature is going to be added.

Please note - this is not intended to be a criticism, just a clarification so more folks will know if fonmon won't work for them.
