Feedbackd

Feedbackd is a client/server system that provides dynamic feedback of server load in a Linux Virtual Server (LVS)-based cluster. Monitor plugins are used to measure the health of each server, allowing a flexible way to report load back to the load balancer. It also facilitates the addition and removal of servers from the cluster.

Release Notes: This release features updates for the new IPVS interface (version 1.24), and the master is now compatible with a 2.6 kernel. There have been cleanups for portability (tested on powerpc64-linux). The build system has been simplified, it no longer uses automake and libtool. Options (eg --without- perl) were added to disable compilation for specific plugins.

Release Notes: This release adds hostname, service, and protocol resolution to the agent configuration file. It fixes the configure script to allow a new prefix on make install (this fixes problems with a ./configure with no --prefix option, and allows RPM builds). Log timestamps are now in the local timezone. Minor code cleanup has been made.

Release Notes: Configuration has been changed to an XML format, and most commandline options and compile-time directives have been moved to the config file. Two new server monitor plugins were added to the agent: a Perl plugin to allow Perl scripts to be used to monitor server load, and a constant-value plugin mainly for testing. Behaviour with broken/intermittent network connections has been improved. Efficiency improvements were also made on the master process.
