Release Notes: Some bugfixes and a new ability to dump/restore files bigger than 2GB.
Release Notes: Many small fixes and new features, including the recently reported exploit on Bugtraq (present when dump or restore was setuid root).
Release Notes: This version fixes the signal handling which was causing several strange dump failures, a bug causing hard links to be restored several times, a bug which prevented dumping a directory having a 1 character name length. dump has been reinforced to allow only level 0 and no -u option when dumping a subdirectory, and it now understands LABEL= and UUID= notation.
Release Notes: Several potential buffer overflows in restores have been fixed. Restoring from standard input and the compile process on SuSE now also work properly. The suid-root bit has been removed for security reasons.
Release Notes: Fixes were made to the eot script, POSIX signal handling, and quoted filenames in interactive restore. New features include readline support in interactive restore and comparing files on-the-fly.
Release Notes: Fixes for duplicate 'DUMP: DUMP:' messages, blocks estimation, and multi-volume dump, and new features, like reporting the total number of MB dumped, an -X filelist option to restore, and device name and volume number as arguments to the end of tape script.
Release Notes: Fixes for a buffer overflow problem in dump (exploits possible), the treatment of options using the old BSD syntax, and a bug in restore compare code, and a new prompt command in interactive restore mode and the '-F script' option to dump.
Release Notes: Bug fixes: the tape format was incorrect on big endian machines (sparc, m68k, ppc), invalid deleted entries were dumped, causing severe dump malfunction, the filesystem parameter was treated incorrectly in some cases, restoring hard links to an immutable inode was failing, and dump sometimes reported more than 100% done. New additions: an option to exclude a specific inode from being dumped and more information about how to correctly submit a bug report.
Release Notes: A small Y2K fix was made in the man pages. It is no longer necessary to be root to build the RPM. A bug which caused dump to block when dumping really huge filesystems was fixed. The handling of an interrupt signal when dump accesses the remote tape through RSH was also fixed, as well as a bug which was causing dump/restore to display garbage characters instead of the remote host name.
Release Notes: Fixes for the dump man page, the exit code when using the size estimate option, a bug in dump which prevented the creation of the dumpdates file when doing a 0-level dump, and a compatibility problem in Linux/Alpha dump tape format, handling of EINTR in atomical reads/writes in dump, handling of more than 16 characters for the device names in dumpdates, and changing the dump 'S' flag reports into bytes.
