Release Notes: For business users, dotCMS 2.3 provides a WYSIWYG Template Designer which can be used to visually lay out and preview responsive pages in a variety of mobile devices. 2.3 also provides Content Time Machine, which gives users a way to browse snapshots of their sites as they looked in the past, or how they will look in the future. For Web developers, dotCMS 2.3 introduces the idea of themes which use responsive design. Themes are modular, shareable skins which provide a consistent, responsive look and feel for all visitors.

The activity stream reporter reports on content contributors’ usage. Page caching caches pages statically for a set period of time for maximum scalability. SEO descriptions and keywords were extended. Cache tags give Web developers a way to statically cache arbitrary blocks of templates. An automatic updater was added to allow easier system upgrades. The Italian language translation is now included out of the box.

Release Notes: A plugin architecture was added, which allows for modular development, extensibility, and user contributions. Multi-lingual capabilities were improved. WebDAV access to language files is provided. The multilingual editing interface was improved. Multilingual content can be imported. A default language is used if no content is available in the language you are viewing. Content can be submitted and contributed through the front end. Cluster and performance improvements were made. Content relationships are stored in the Lucene index. Default cache optimization was done.
