dopewars

dopewars is a UNIX rewrite of the MS-DOS program of the same name, which in turn was inspired by John E. Dell's "Drug Wars" game. You have one month to buy and sell drugs on the streets of New York, the aim being first to pay off your debt to the loan shark and then to make a fortune. And if you have to shoot a few cops in the process, well... The game includes TCP networking allowing you to meet (and shoot) other human drug dealers. Computer drug dealers are currently in development.

            Totally cool...
If you don't like it - don't download it. Don't look at it. Filter it out of your listings, but don't YOU dare ever try to tell ME what I can and can't look at or see or believe.

You want to believe this game doesn't belong here. Fine.

I don't have a problem with it being here and that ought to also be fine.

The game isn't hurting anyone, nor is it going to cause anyone to go out and become a drug dealer thinking that they could simply apply the rules of the game to actual life... All it is - is entertainment.

If you don't like it being called dope wars, how about this - FORK the code and create an update... I don't know - maybe "Soda Wars" where you have to sell more Pepsi than the other guys...

Geez... you have the source, you can tweek the code - so do something constructive with your time other than telling other people what they ought to do because of YOUR beliefs...

I don't understand how you can drown yourself in those simple minded ideas, and manage to drag a decietful religion into it as well. The problem with people like you is your obsessive need to conform everyone to this utopian-like vision in which we are all happy and sedated with "love for the lord", I pity you...

In all truth, these games are our way of mocking the world and all of it's flaws. If I truly took joy in purely slaughtering people, I would go out with a gun and just open fire on the first unfortunate bastard I came across. If I really wanted to traffic narcotics, I would start out at your child's school. But, unlike what you would like to believe, we're not terrible people for indulging ourselves in a humorous illusion from time to time. Sure, many of the things that are happening as off today in this world are tragic, but it is none of my concern, seeing humanity will kill me off in due time, some just go before others.

Let us live and do as we please, you have the right to your opinion, but at a certain point, it just gets annoying and dictorial, leave us be with our "insanity".

Hey it just a game. Noone force you to play Dopewar and if you are not happy with
freshmeat - nobody demands that you must use
            freshmeat.net.

            Freedom of the net ....

Hey, 28 subscribers is not too bad, is it?
Actually most of freshmeat users will be old enough, don't you think?

Why does that say anything about my level of education and maturity?

Who do you think you are? How dare you judge anyone based on the information you've got.

Are you saying that I can't have fun glorifying violence and drugs if I'm well-educated, or are you saying that you're too uneducated to see the fun in it?

Haven't you ever dressed up for halloween?
I've often enjoyed dressing up like a gangster and pretending I'm running the mafia.

It's fun, don't try to understand it, just enjoy it, stop clinging to your all-american-moral-codex and have fun.

He's not attacking my way of life, as far as I'm concerned, he attacked a country who had single-handedly claimed to be the ultimate power of the world...

I'm well aware of the people who died and for them I have grieved, but for the attack... *shrug*

I don't know what christ would say about such things and I really couldn't care less.

I'm not a christian, I'm an atheist, existensialist etc... What christ would say, and how righteous he was doesn't really concern me.

What really concerns me is that some people simply doesn't know of common tolerance, respect for other people and their opinions unless it's spoonfed to them with the religion.
