dl is a Perl script which provides a solution to the difficulty of recovering deleted files on most Unix filesystems. Files given to dl are compressed, moved to a private backup directory, and deleted only when they haven't been recovered after a configurable amount of time.
Release Notes: A few bugs have been fixed, notably a minor security issue with respect to archive permissions. The -f option now forces files to be stashed regardless of their permissions.
Release Notes: Various compatibility and bugfixes, no longer recompressing compressed files when stashed, and changes to the configuration format.
Release Notes: Metachar bugfixes, 'dl -c n' deletes files n hours old, and a new -l switch to list information about all stashed files.
Release Notes: When interacting with a shell, dl makes sure that odd filenames don't cause problems.
Release Notes: dl no longer relies on mv and gzip to refuse to overwrite files. Symbolic links are deleted rather than stashed. dl refuses to stash files which aren't readable and writable. The default compressor was changed to bzip2, and filenames containing spaces no longer confuse dl.
