Heirloom Development Tools

The Heirloom Development Tools provide yacc, lex, m4, make, and SCCS as portable derivatives of the utilities released by Sun as part of OpenSolaris. The OpenSolaris utilities were in turn derived from the original Unix versions, and are assumed be conforming implementations of the POSIX standard.

Release Notes: The "make" utility has been added, derived from OpenSolaris source code. The "-j jobs" option and the (very limited) GNU make compatibility mode have been enabled in it. The SCCS diff commands now accept the "-a", "-p", and "-B" options to "diff". Portability fixes for SCCS on Mac OS X and FreeBSD are included. The SCCS "get" utility no longer dumps core when it is passed a corrupted s-file. The SCCS utilities now use the O_EXCL flag to open temporary files.
