Release Notes: "Make USB edition" was added to the tools menu. The mkmydsl script was enhanced to pass boot time options to CD. The new filetool GUI front-end to file backup and restore was added. dslpanel was enhanced with the addition of printer setup and a new filetool GUI. mydslgui was enhanced to support more network types. filetool.sh was enhanced to simplify device use, and to work with USB pen drives (sda1). mydsl-load was enhanced to support runlevel 2. Changing passwords on the live CD was fixed.
Release Notes: This release has an updated kernel and modules, a new boot floppy, new UCI single file cloop extensions, call powerdown.sh from reboot, updated Xsnapshot, a new xcuriser, updated myDSLgui, updated frugal_install, updated dsl-hdinstall, updated mkmydsl, updated frugal_lite.sh, and more cloop devices.
Release Notes: This release boots directly into an enhanced X desktop at 1024x768x32 and the mouse is auto-detected when the default video mode is used. New boot time options were implemented along with the ability to mount and umount the .ci extensions via the myDSL button. cardmgr was updated to 3.2.2, nfs-common was removed from startup, a .wgetrc was added, and permissions on /dev/cdrom were corrected to let users play audio CDs.
Release Notes: This release adds myDSLgui, a click and run system for extensions, includes the Lua scripting language and Lua sockets, replaces Scite with Beaver, replaces nvi with vim, changes the user from damnsmall to dsl (also removes 'damn' from the boot process), upgrades busybox, simplifies the filetool.lst usage, updates the Firefox flash plugin in the Firefox download script, and shrinks the ISO by nearly 1 MB.
Release Notes: The new extension type "ci" (compressed ISO) was added to myDSL to reduce memory requirements. The "optional" directory was added to myDSL to store extensions that will not automatically load but should appear on an installation menu. The mydsl-load script was added to load extensions on demand. A myDSL button was added to emelfm to easily load extensions on demand. The "base" boot option was added to skip all myDSL functions. The powerdown.sh script was added to store commands to execute upon system shutdown. filetool.sh was enhanced. The mouse port selection in the X setup now includes serial ports.
Release Notes: This release added myDSL, an easy way to extend DamnSmall, a Synpatic download script, gRun (replacing fbrun), and enhnacements to emelfm. A bug with passing the current video mode for hard drive installation was fixed. OpenOffice, AbiWord, GCombust, Samba, Ace of Penguins, GNU utils, and Firefox extensions were created.
Release Notes: New application include control-panel, hdparm, and the Xtris game. Enhancements were made to xsetup, dsl-hdinstall, knoppix-autoconfig, boot.img, and knoppix-halt. Code was added to bypass the prompt if the "toram" or "frugal" boot-time options are used. A bug in the Alt-tab behavior was fixed. The fluxbox menu was enhanced. The busybox tar applet was replaced with GNU tar. frugal_install was enhanced. A new USBboot image is available.
Release Notes: A new GTK application theme was added, which is a little darker and easier on the eyes than the default. rdesktop was updated. New additions include documentation on TCC, an intelligent man script which knows the difference between a regular app and a busybox app, a net dictionary, and SQLite Book (a Perl/SQLite record keeper). ogg123 and mpg123 were fixed. The install script was enhanced, and can now restore most of the regular applications and libraries which BusyBox has replaced on the live CD. Text links were added to the menu.
Release Notes: The Monkey Web server and Naim have been upgraded. The Firebird download has been switched to a special i586 build of FireFox. A command line FTP client, betaftpd, Mutella (gnutella client), and wmix (Dockapp mixer) have been added. The telnet client has been restored. Some bugs have been fixed and a few usability enhancements added . frugal install is an evolution of the poor man's install.
Release Notes: A new kernel and modules were added, supporting more hardware. busybox is used to save space. Space was saved by having dpkg-restore restore not only package structure, but also related programs. Backup or restore to a specific device (such as a hard drive) was improved. The PPP dial scripts were improved, so manual editing is no longer required. The hard drive install script was improved to pass the fb800x600 screen size. The speed of installation was also improved. The menu was reorganized for easier navigation. The /opt/bootlocal.sh was added to allow the user to specify miscellaneous system startup commands.
