Release Notes: This release introduces a Beta installer ISO file that can be burned to CD. There is also a Beta 11 tarball for hand installation. The ISO image must be booted with the "huge.s" kernel at the boot prompt. The file "INSTALL.cheix" will then be found in the root of the initrd image. This file is also posted to the Web site so that non-English users can access it with online translation services. This Beta 11 release completes the hard-drive simulation phase of the Cheix LongLife USB project. The remaining milestones will target the USB.
Release Notes: The cheix_secure script was added to allow the user to create the ncftp bookmark for remote storage in the transient tmpfs space each session instead of in /storage/skel where it would not be secure. Minor changes were made to cheix_home and cheix_storage.
Release Notes: The cheix_storage script no longer writes to anything except tmpfs unless requested.
Release Notes: Refinements were made to cheix_home and cheix_storage.
Release Notes: Minor changes were made to the INSTALL file. Because the project Web site is getting hits from Google Translate, the INSTALL file is now posted on the Web for the convenience of non-English users.
Release Notes: Bug fixes and improvements were made in the cheix_home and cheix_storage scripts. Cheix_storage now handles any directory in /storage. The cheix_admin script now checks for the root user. Documentation for these scripts has been updated.
Release Notes: The cheix_home and cheix_storage scripts were added for remote archival and retrieval of directories in the transient file system. Improvements were made in install_cheix.sh.
Release Notes: The INSTALL file was completely rewritten. install_cheix.sh was added for altering the image after the network install. Fixes were made in rc.6. Lynx bookmarks were updated to the new project home. The GUST tag list was updated and reduced.
Release Notes: This release adds a cheix_admin script and its docs. This script mounts the root file system read-write and executes a subshell. When you exit the shell, the script updates any caches and runs any normal boot-time executables that would update after an install, and then remounts the root fs read-only.
Release Notes: freememd was added to actively free and monitor memory. Its output was hooked into screen's status line. rc.S and fstab were updated to stop using swap. User and admin documentation was begun in /usr/local/docs.
