Version 1.6.2 of BitDefender Mail Protection

Release Notes: The sudo dependency was removed by bundling bdsu, a stripped down version of sudo. The antispam filter now has support for image-based spam messages. Some minor threading and statistics bugs were fixed. The "bd" script was rewritten to be fully POSIX compliant and to use bdsu instead of su when starting processes as different users.

Release Notes: An "Update Pushing" mechanism was introduced to allow the "pushing" of updates to BitDefender clients instead of "pulling" them from the update servers. New antispam heuristics that can be updated were added in order to detect the latest spam tricks. Statistics are now saved over restarts and show detailed information about scanned, infected, suspicious, or spam messages or parts and the action taken. A new bdsafe (BitDefender Swiss Army kniFE) tool was added to automate product upgrading and patching.

Release Notes: This version adds antispam filter with 3 plugins (heuristic scanning, WBL (Whitelist/Blacklist), and URL filter), and an internal Watchdog (bdmond) to watch every request and take the appropriate action if the scanning daemon fails (restart, ignore, refuse, reject). The "Forward" feature has been added to duplicate or forward email traffic (all or only disinfected messages or only virused messages) to a local or remote mailbox, and custom email disclaimers and virus alerts are now available in English, German, French, Spanish, Catalan, and Romanian.
