Specifically, this version drops the deprecated compact dl attribute and escapes XML-special characters appearing in URLs and DOIs. In addition, the program will operate better when the PDF::API2 module is not available and will correctly handle cross references containing tildes.

Release Notes: A new -u option converts LaTeX special characters into the corresponding Unicode characters and outputs valid XML encoded with UTF-8. The documents produced by this option may be easier to parse and validate with some XML parsers. Output duplication caused by unflushed buffers after a fork was corrected. http-equiv and Generator tags were added, and the deprecated -3 option (output HTML-3 character entities) was removed. Many HTML entities are now encoded by their symbolic name rather than numerically.
