Projects / autorun

autorun

autorun automagically recognizes all available CDROMs in the system, mounts them upon insertion of a media and executes a possible autorun executable on the CD. The user can remove the media; autorun will call unmount after that.

          Re: Re-invention?
Actually, what you are referring to is the daemon which comes with GNOME. Because RedHat defaults to GNOME as the window manager, that daemon gets fired off upon login.

This script, although a little buggy (even with -m and -q, it still tries to execute things), is a great solution for those who use other window managers, or for Admins who want automatically mounted CD's for all users, regardless of the window manager.

As a note, automounter is something entirely different. :)

          Re-invention?
Maybe other some of the other flavors don't come with the automounter, but the one that comes with Red Hat works just perfect. And it's not just limited to cd's.
