autools is a collection of several C programs to play, record, generate, modify, and analyse audio files on Linux/Solaris/IRIX/Win32. It includes native support for 16 bit .au and raw files. If linked with the AFsp library, most common audio file formats are supported.

Release Notes: Minor features were added to the tool auquery. An additional tool implementing the encapsulation of AC3 coded audio data in an S/P-DIF stream according to IEC 61937 was added. It is called ac3spdif. Furthermore, for some of the modules, the license was changed from GPL to LPGL. Finally, an LGPL'd DDL version of the rateconv module was added.
