Release Notes: This version includes major changes in the way Areca handles memory and archives' metadata. Memory usage has been reduced to a minimum: unlike previous versions, this release handles large numbers of files with very limited memory consumption. It is compatible with ACL and extended attributes (on Linux only). It comes with a new "Check archive" feature, which uses a SHA hash algorithm to ensure that recovered files are identical to the original ones.

Release Notes: This release includes support for delta backups: Areca is now able to store modified file parts instead of the whole file. It also includes new translations (for Danish, Japanese, Chinese, Hungarian, and Swedish) and some minor bugfixes and enhancements.

Release Notes: This version includes a new "Backup Shortcut" feature and some user interface improvements. It also adds support for storage plugins.

Release Notes: The user interface was completely refactored. Areca now uses the SWT library for better OS integration. This version also includes some FTP bugfixes, a new "Archive Logical View" feature, a new "Target duplication" feature, and some other minor enhancements.

Release Notes: This version adds FTPS (FTP over SSL/TLS) storage. Both explicit and implicit modes are supported.

Release Notes: This release includes Zip64 compression support (allows archives bigger than 4 GB). You can now store your archives directly on a FTP server. It has a Technical Log Window, Auto-XML backup (a copy of the target's XML configuration is automatically stored on the backup location during backup, and auto-deletion of non-committed archives. You can now re-use existing filters / post-processors. There are some bugfixes and minor feature additions.
