Version 2.1.0 of Alpine Linux

Release Notes: This is a stable release based on Linux 2.6.35. Some of the more interesting software updates include gcc-4.5.1, gdb-7.2, perl-5.12, asterisk-1.8, kamailio-3.1, postgresql-9.0, and dovecot-2.0. Initial support for PHP/Apache2 was added. Initial support was added for udev as an alternative to busybox mdev, which means that hotplugging works in xorg.

Release Notes: This release is based on the 2.6.38 kernel branch and has a new x86_64 port and support for SHA512 passwords. The setup scripts have support for LVM. MySQL was upgraded to 5.5. XFCE was upgraded to 4.8. Mozilla Firefox was added. There is also preliminary support for GNOME and Xen dom0.

Release Notes: This release includes an update to use kernels. Various packages have bugfixes from upstream. Among these are: kamailio-3.1.2, asterisk 1.8.3, freeswitch-1.0.7, samba-3.5.8, dovecot-2.0.11, bind-9.7.3, pmacct-0.12.5, and openssl-1.0.0d. The package manager has fixes that solve issues when upgrading to edge.

Release Notes: This release includes an update to kernels. Hyper-V fixes have been applied to these kernels. Boot scripts have been updated so that if at least one network interface starts successfully, then services that depend on networking will be started. In previous releases (since Alpine 1.9.0), all network interfaces had to start successfully for this to happen. Also, Busybox contains a fix for a long-standing bug that caused crontab files to mysteriously disappear.

Release Notes: This is a bugfix release that is based on the kernel. It contains security fixes for OpenSSL, stability fixes for the uclibc threading implementation, a new snapshot of ipsec-tools, fixes for the local backup utilities' handling of encrypted configuration, and minor fixes for the package manager apk-tools.
