Alpha Shooter

Alpha Shooter is a 3D first-person shooter game with a sci-fi setting. It features multi-platform support (Linux, Mac OS X, CygWin, and Windows) and, since version 0.1.0, its own reusable game engine (Neutron). The game and its engine will evolve over time to incorporate simulated physics and AI, networking, audio, scripting, and more.

Release Notes: Binary packages were created for all supported operating systems, including a Windows installer, an i386 Debian Linux package, and a PowerPC Mac OS X DMG disk image. Additionally, the improved persistent mouse movement mode uses a dynamic mouse cursor that shows direction and speed of rotation, making that movement mode more intuitive and useful. Several minor bugs have also been fixed.

Release Notes: Microsoft Windows is now supported. An auto-leveling feature levels the camera at the press of a key. Rotations have been revised to include the local Z axis (when flying) and use quaternions; mouse rotations were also fixed. Progressive mouse mode has been improved by not using glutWarpPointer. The Makefile has been updated for Windows and Cygwin binary releases. More error checking has been to the TGA load library, and fseek() calls and various potential bugs have been fixed. Some controls meant for debug (like the fog toggle) have been disabled, and a debug mode added. The project has switched to the GPL version 3 and above.
