Ns is a discrete event simulator targeted at networking research. It provides substantial support for simulation of TCP, routing, and multicast protocols over wired and wireless (local and satellite) networks. It includes an optional network animator (nam).

Release Notes: The transport protocol implementations for IP have been refactored so they can support IPv4 and IPv6 connections. The LTE module has been reworked, with new LTE radio protocol models and an EPC data plane model. New propagation models and a buildings pathloss model have been added. An antenna module, which includes different radiation pattern models, has been added. The Random Early Detection (RED) queue model from ns-2 has been ported. A Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) protocol model for IPv4 has been added.

MP3DB2 is a collection of bash scripts for keeping track of large MP3 collections. It will retrieve song information from the filenames and ID3 tags of a directory or CD of MP3s and store them in a local database. It then allows you to search any of the fields, generate a master listing of all your complete albums, see the size of your entire collection, and more.

Release Notes: This release adds a handful of bugfixes which were required because of special characters in directories and filenames. The renlower script is now much better about removing these characters.

An exclude_regex option and a gentle shutdown server option have been added. librsync errors in phase4 are now non-fatal. This release checks for errors on gzclose() and fclose().

Release Notes: This release fixes CLANG warnings. It fixes tests and run-time errors when Hash::FieldHash is installed. Some spelling fixes. The scripts/tag-release.pl script has been added to tag a release. NodeList::item() is now 0-based (per the spec) instead of 1-based. There is a patch for a potential NULL dereference in xpath.c.

XML-Grammar-Fiction is a Perl package that provides processors for lightweight markup languages and corresponding XML grammars for writing prose (e.g. stories, novels, and novellas) as well as screenplays. The XML grammars can in turn be translated to XHTML and DocBook/XML. XML-Grammar-Fiction currently offers only very basic functionality, but has good support for UTF-8 and allows one to write bidirectional texts conveniently. It is still under development and may exhibit some quirks.

Pcompress is an archiver that can do compression/decompression and deduplication in parallel by splitting input data into chunks. It has a modular structure and includes support for multiple algorithms like LZMA, Bzip2, PPMD, LZ4, etc., with KECCAK/BLAKE2/SHA-256/512 chunk checksums. SSE optimizations for the bundled LZMA are included. It also implements chunk-level Content-Aware Deduplication and Delta Compression features based on a Polynomial Fingerprinting scheme. It has low metadata overhead and overlaps I/O and compression to achieve maximum parallelism. It has AES encryption capability and uses Scrypt from Tarsnap to generate per-session unique keys from passwords. It can work in pipe mode, reading from stdin and writing to stdout. It also provides some adaptive compression modes in which a suitable algorithm is chosen per chunk based on heuristics.

pngcrush is an excellent batch-mode compression utility for PNG images. Depending on the application that created the original PNGs, it can improve the file size anywhere from a few percent to 40% or more (completely losslessly). The utility also allows specified PNG chunks (e.g. text comments) to be inserted or deleted, and it can fix incorrect gamma info written by Photoshop 5.0 as well as the erroneous iCCP chunk written by Photoshop 5.5.

Release Notes: This release eliminates many redundant file operations, resulting in a few percent speed increase.

amforth is an extendible command interpreter for the Atmel AVR ATmega microcontroller family. It has a turnkey feature for embedded use as well. It does not depend on a host application. The command language is an almost compatible ANS94 forth with extensions. It needs less than 8KB code memory for the base system. It is written in assembly language and forth itself.

Release Notes: This release introduces a new shell program to access the command prompt. It has command history, command completion with tab, and full access to all registers and bits by name without filling the dictionary on the controller. The library section is restructured and expanded. Some small bugs were fixed as well.
